The partnership between Team Penske and Fitzgerald Glider Kits will continue to grow in 2018, as the team announced today that Fitzgerald will become the primary sponsor on the championship-winning No. 22 Ford Mustang for the majority of next season’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

Fitzgerald Glider Kits, North America’s leading truck glider kit assembler, will be the primary sponsor of Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford for 16 races beginning next season, including the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway, the season-ending race at Homestead-Miami Speedway and both series races at Bristol Motor Speedway, the home track for the Tennessee-based company. Fitzgerald will also be an associate sponsor on the car for the balance of the 2018 NXS season.

As part of the enhanced agreement with Fitzgerald Glider Kits, a Team Penske partner since 2016, Fitzgerald will also serve as the primary sponsor for the team’s No. 12 Ford Fusion driven by Ryan Blaney in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race at Bristol in August of 2018. Fitzgerald will also continue as an associate sponsor in the Verizon IndyCar Series (VICS) with a presence on the No. 1 Chevrolet driven by defending series champion Josef Newgarden throughout next season.

“It’s not easy to win this one,” said Newgarden. “Whenever you get opportunities, I think you’ve got to seize it. We were in a great position to do it. We had a great car this weekend. Happy for Roger (Penske, team owner) and the group. Be able to check that off in the box, being able to contribute, I’m really happy for the team and happy to get this result for everybody.”

This was the first INDY race in which Fitzgerald Glider Kits participated in as a sponsor.

“You certainly hope you can win early and win often,” Newgarden said. “I think my goal was to maximize our potential, my potential, in the team as early as that could be. It’s not easy integrating into a new group. It’s been pretty fluid for me just because Team Penske is a very easy group to join, I find. They’re very open, welcoming, there’s so much information to look at, the teammates are so good, it helps you kind of get on pace pretty quick.”

What an exciting weekend we had.. the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 was a blast. The rain held off long enough for us to get a full race in. Unfortunately our 22 car didn’t take the checkered after leading for 61 laps of the race but the Indy Car driven by @josefnewgarden beat the rest of the drivers and took first place at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. We want to give a shout out to our family, friends, customers, vendors, sponsors and race fans who all made this weekend an unforgettable event. We can’t say enough how excited we are to be apart of @team_penske and the racing world we’ve grown up idolizing. With hundreds of fans in attendance, drivers from Team Penske and partners Tommy Fitzgerald Sr. and Tommy Fitzgerald Jr. pulled back the cover to reveal a slick looking black and green #22 Chevrolet that will be driven by one of the best, Juan Pablo Montoya at the Indianapolis 500 coming up in May.

Team Penske announced today that Fitzgerald Glider Kits, North America’s leading truck glider kit assembler, is building on its partnership with the team in NASCAR to become a primary sponsor for three Verizon IndyCar Series races in 2017, including the 101^st running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 28 with driver Juan Pablo Montoya. Montoya will be pursuing his third Indianapolis 500 victory after winning the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” in 2015 while driving for Team Penske.

Fitzgerald will also serve as the primary sponsor on the No. 22 Team Penske Chevrolet driven by Montoya at the INDYCAR Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on May 13.  The Fitzgerald livery is making its debut this weekend on the No. 2 Chevy driven by Josef Newgarden in the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park. Today’s  announcement coincides with the official unveiling of the No. 2 Fitzgerald Ford Fusion that Brad Keselowski will race in two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) events later this season – the spring race at Talladega Superspeedway on May 7 and the fall race at Richmond International Raceway on September 9.

“Team Penske is proud to work with Fitzgerald and to have the company build on its partnership with us in NASCAR to now expand to INDYCAR, it certainly shows their commitment to motorsports and to our organization,” said Roger Penske. “This is a great opportunity for our team and Fitzgerald to team up for the greatest motorsport event in the world – the Indianapolis 500. Fitzgerald is also a primary sponsor for Team Penske’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) team for three events – including this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway – and has a partnership with Brad Keselowski Racing and the No. 19 Ford F-150 driven by Austin Cindric in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS).

Montoya is one of the most decorated drivers in motorsports history. In addition to his two Indianapolis 500 wins, Montoya has also earned victories in Formula 1, MENCS, NXS and sports car racing, including three triumphs in the prestigious Daytona 24 Hour race. Montoya captured the INDYCAR Championship in 1999 during his rookie season on the strength of seven wins. His 2015 victory at the Brickyard represented the record 16^th win for Roger Penske’s team in the Indianapolis 500. Montoya’s first Indy 500 win came in 2000.

The INDYCAR Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is set for Saturday, May 13 at 3:30 pm ET.  The 101^st running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place on Sunday, May 28 beginning at 11 am ET.  Both races will be seen live on ABC.

The day was one to remember. All friends and family were encouraged to be onsite for the reveal. With music, food and fun, the Byrdstown plant which builds more than 2,000 trucks per year was jam packed. They knew that they would be seeing the color scheme for the #22 For Mustang, but they didn’t know that they would be in for a surprise when representatives from Bristol Motor Speedway showed up to announce that the “Dash for Cash” race to be held later next month, is now sponsored by Fitzgerald for the next three years as the “Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300: Heat Racing on the High Banks”.

The partnership between Penske and Fitzgerald was announced last month. Both companies have significant interest in the trucking industry and have worked together on multiple projects over the past few years.

The Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 will run at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 17, 2016.
